Researchers at Leicester University say that up to half of young black people in the city believe their votes don't count in the British electoral system, reports BBC Leicester.

A study carried out by the Scarman Centre shows 'an alarming proportion' of the black community failed to participate in the last general election.

Operation Black Vote is being launched later this week to encourage African-Caribbean people in the community to use their votes in future.
