Public sector outsourcing specialist Capita has won its way back into the FTSE-100 index, from which it was ejected a year ago.

The index, which is updated quarterly, comprises the companies with the 100 largest market capitalisations.

When the Stock Exchange closed on Tuesday, Capita's shares stood at 315p, making the company worth£2.1bn, compared with£1.71bn for engineering firm GKN, which it displaced.
