Capita IT Services has been awarded a four-and-a-half year extension to its existing IT facilities management contract with Derby City Council.

Under the new contract, which will be worth an additional£11.25m to the company, Capita will be responsible for developing and implementing proposals for the council's e-government strategy.

Derby chief executive Ray Cowlishaw said the extended contract would allow the council to deliver a 'successful, accessible and effective' e-government solution.

'The extension of our relationship allows us to focus on significantly developing and improving our service to the citizens of Derby,' he said.
