Nigel Sheehan, Crawley BC...
Nigel Sheehan, Crawley BC

With which historical figure do you most identify?

Ernest H Shackleton (or at least I would like to think so).

What three words would your colleagues use to describe you?

Considerate, innovative, fun.

What (or who) keeps you awake at night?

My wife, who is eight months pregnant and struggling to get a comfortable night's sleep.

Would you recommend a career in local government?

Absolutely, but it's good to have experience of different environments and sectors.

Suit or jeans?

Suit when appropriate, jeans when appropriate, but never together.

What is the worst mistake you have made and what did you learn from it?

Too many to pick out one and they were all learning opportunities.

What will your next 'me' purchase be?

Entry and accommodation for the Paris Marathon next April.

Name a tune to sum up your local government experience?

For inspiration I stuck my iPod on random and the first track to play was Marvin Gaye's Got to give

it up. That aside, how about Elvis v JXL A little less conversation - although a more performance-based culture these days is changing this.

Who would you like to give an ASBO to?

The plethora of Z-list celebs who invade our front rooms every evening and the boy in my nephew's school who said he is trying to get one.

Who or what has been your greatest inspiration?

Personally: my family. Professionally: sounds a bit trite but genuinely making a difference to the quality of people's lives, which I believe we do in Crawley.
