Hull city council will pay the bulk of a six-figure fee in court costs and out-of-court compensation to close the long-running saga of the teacher who spied on caretakers with a video camera (Yorkshire Post, p1).

Jennifer Watson was suspended by Sydney Smith School three and a half years ago, and was effectively sacked at the beginning of this year.

Her offences were filming caretakers and sticking thread across the door of the school boilerhouse in an attempt to prove that they claimed unearned overtime.

In return for the compensation package, Ms Watson will drop legal action against the council, reports the Yorkshire Post.
