On Thursday 30th April this year Carrick DC will be joining thousands of other UK employers in giving young girls the opportunity to learn about the variety of careers open to them. It will run a similar day for the boys on May 1st.

At Carrick DC the council will show girls all aspects of the working environment. After a welcome by John Winskill, chief executive, the girls will be given talks by senior women officers on their roles and how they developed their career.

Girls will also 'workshadow' an employee for part of the day. In the afternoon they will be given an opportunity to prepare a newsletter on their day at Carrick DC to take back to their school.

John Winskill commented: 'We are proud to be associated with this worthwhile campaign. While we hope that the girls and boys will enjoy their day with us our main aim is to ensure that each child has something of real value to take away concerning working life and the importance of careful selection of subjects at school.'
