Carrick DC is controlling seagulls in Falmouth with water pistols, BBC Radio Four's Today programme reported this morning.

John Carley, the council's chairman of environmental services told the programme seagulls were attracted by people feeding them with takeaways, and were a nuisance to residents.

The council was experimenting with 'super soakers' - large water pistols - to scare them off, he said.
