A report by the Confederation of British Industry says Wales's struggling tourist attractions need urgent help from the government to survive.

The Western Mail (p9) reports that the CBI took a close look at the Welsh industry, according to its report, Attracting Attention.

Elizabeth Heywood, director of the CBI in Wales, said it was quite clear that many Welsh attractions were struggling.

She said self-help could at least ensure that standards of service and facilities at attractions get even better so that the competition could be taken on.

'But they cannot do everything themselves and need additional help and that means from local authorities and regional tourist bodies in Wales.'
