A special educational needs tribunal has backed Cheshire CC's move to educate a local girl at a local school, rather than at an American special school.

The Daily Post (p13) reports that the girl's mother tried to force the authority to contribute to the American school's fees.

Cheshire CC education officer Joan Feenan told the paper: 'While any money not spent directly in providing education in schools is to be regretted, we feel that this expenditure has helped to achieve the best for the child.'
