Christine Pointer is leaving Waverley BC after more than a decade as chief executive.

Following a 'no' vote in the housing stock transfer ballot last December,

Waverley's Liberal Democrat administration has resolved to restructure the

council in order to reduce senior management costs.

The current chair of SOLACE south east branch, Ms Pointer has enjoyed a

varied career taking her from Essex CC, to directorships of two

London boroughs and on to chief executive of two district councils.

Ms Pointer said that the administration wished to take a strategic change in

direction and she was content that she was leaving Waverley in good heart

with a 'good' CPA and a clutch of other national accolades.

In the interim, Waverley's four departmental directors will take on the

'head of paid service' function on a two monthly rotating basis.
