A former careworker befriended boys in his care before systematically abusing them, a court heard yesterday (reports the Daily Post).

Keith Laverack, 52, is alleged to have threatened the boys by telling them their credit points for good behaviour would be deducted if they reported him.

Laverack faces 10 sexual abuse charges related to his time at Warrington's former Greystone Heath community home, during the late 1960s and early 70s

Laverack denies the charges. The trial continues.
