The green paper on children at risk could be delayed because of the row over

Margaret Hodge's appointment as children's minister, BBC Radio Four's Today

programme said this morning.

The green paper will set out the government's response to the issues

identified by the Laming inquiry. Mrs Hodge was due to launch it tomorrow,

but the Department for Education and Skills now says publication will be

delayed for some weeks, Today reported.

The programme suggested the launch of the report would be overshadowed by

continuing media attention on Mrs Hodge's handling of child abuse scandals

while she was leader of Islington LBC.
