The Institute of Revenues, Rating and Valuation has appointmented Fraser Macpherson as its development manager, with particular responsibilities for institute activities in Scotland.

Mr Macpherson was, until his appointment, senior manager of CIPFA in Scotland, and previously worked for Bull Information Systems as a revenues and benefits consultant. Prior to that he had over ten years' local government experience in housing benefits with two Scottish local authorities.

The IRRV is the professional body for local taxation, benefits and valuation. It promotes best practice and support the professional activities of its members working in government and commerce.

Mr Macpherson said that his appointment came at an exciting time for IRRV in Scotland. 'The institute's activities in Scotland continue to grow and I look forward to working with our members and others in Scotland to built our membership, our educational initiatives, our programme of conferences, seminars and training in revenues, benefits and valuation, and our policy work and research.'
