The City expects an early interest cut after the publication yesterday of the Bank of England's quarterly Inflation Report which showed that the government was back on course to reach its inflation target, reports the Financial Times (p1).

The Bank predicts that it was now 'a little more likely than not that inflation will be somewhat below 2.5% in two years' time'.

LGCNet will carry an in-depth comment on the bank's report by AMP Asset Management this morning.
