The City of London Police's report into last month's riot will warn that Britain needs to be more prepared for more demonstrations that become violent, reported Sunday Business (p2). The report will be published on Wednesday, with a separate analysis by former Metropolitan Police assistant commissioner Anthony Speed.

At a meeting on Thursday City police commissioner Perry Nove will reinforce his warning that such demonstrations of diverse, co-ordinated by messages on the Internet, are not just a City or

London concern but a threat to the whole country. The City protest is regarded as evolving from campaigns against road schemes, hunting and environmental issues, and the home office will be told action is required at a national level.
