Annual Report 2006: Full Report

The North is changing. Following decades of economic restructuring, the north is no longer in decline - outpacing European regional growth rates in recent years and currently growing faster than the rest of England. But a significant gap in economic performance remains. For the north to become a successful place, it must transform itself economically.

Through the collaborative approach adopted by the three regional development agencies - One NorthEast, Yorkshire Forward and Northwest Regional Development Agency - The Northern Way has met its Year One targets and delivered against a number of key priorities.

The Northern Way has already influenced key decision making processes and it is preparing a robust evidence base to influence others to ensure that all stakeholders deliver against our aim to close the£30bn output gap between the north and the average for England over a 25 year period.
