CLWYD COUNTY COUNCIL SET TO APPROVE DELAYED INNER RING ROAD

A special planning sub committee is being held tomorrow by Clwyd county council which is expected to grant planning consent for the final stage of the Wrexham Inner Ring Road, for the second time, reports the Western Mail (September 28, p6).

Permission for the road plan was previously granted six years ago but the work was not carried out and planning consent lapsed.

Now councillors are being urged to agree planning permission in the teeth of local objections because they will lose a £200,000 grant from the Welsh Development Agency unless a contract for the project is let by December 31.

Wrexham Maelor Borough Council has lodged an objection, as has the Salisbury Park Action Group.

But Clwyd's director of architecture, planning and estates, Phillip Eyton Jones said a current study is at an advanced stage and there is an immediate need for the inner ring road to be completed, the Western Mail reports.
