In Wales two per cent of schools pupils attend grant-maintained schools, with the number of such schools constituting only 0.2% of all schools (WA, 11 July, col462).

Welsh Office minister Sir Wyn Roberts published two tables of figures for Welsh GM schools and pupils as percentages of all schools, by local education authority and for Wales as a whole.

The highest percentage goes to Clwyd, with 5.6% of the county's pupils attending GM schools. Just over two per cent of schools in this LEA area are self-governing.
