Financial administration service supplier ITnet has been appointed preferred supplier in a £4.5m contract with Colchester BC beginning in October.
The contract involves the outsourcing of the council's ICL mainframe and distributed applications and is expected to save the council £1.37m over the next five years.
Nine employees will transfer to ITnet under TUPE regulations working from a new office in Colchester. Remaining staff will support the council's head of information technology.
'Not only have we secured substantial financial savings but we have gained access to valuable resources and skills,' said Colchester BC treasurer Robin Paddock.
