In the second quarter of the current financial year, 1993/1994, 1,048,475 summonses were issued for non payment of community charge. 837,476 liability orders were made and 3,089 people attended liability hearings.

The comparable figures for the same quarter of the last financial year, 1992/1993, were 3,158,009 summonses issued, 2,536,139 liability orders made and 8,516 people attending liability hearings.

The percentage differences between these two quarters are a 67% decrease in the number of summonses issued, a 67% decrease in the number of liability orders made and a 64% decrease in the number of people attending liability hearings.

The publication date for the figures covering the third quarter of 1993/1994 will be 11 February 1994.
