The Observer (p8) profiled Heywood Community School in Rochdale, Greater Manchester, which a new headmaster has turned from a failing school to a showcase in just five years.

Ofsted recently lauded the school for taking 'underachievers' at the age of 11 and turning them into 'overachievers'.

The school has been holding seminars for schools in Yorkshire and Lancashire with fewer than 30% of their pupils achieving five GCSE's at grades A to C.
