Figures revealing the increases in funding next year to metropolitan district councils in revenue support grant and non domestic rates, excluding adjustments for the Metropolitan Railway Grant and care in the community Special Transitional Grant, were supplied yesterday in answer to a Commons question (WA 9 Jan col 5).

The table compares the total of RSG, NDR, MRG and STG received by each authority in 1995/96 with the proposed RSG and NDR for 1996/97 - which now incorporates MRG and 95/96 STG.

Not including Greater Manchester districts, where the figures do not include the MRG as authorities there have opted out of railway support in 1996/97 - percentage increases in funding range from around minus 0.1% in Newcastle upon Tyne to plus 3.5% for Wirral.
