The Conservatives retained a seat they were defending in a Peterborough City Council byelection yesterday, reports BBC Cambridgeshire,

The seat was won by John Horrell, Conservative group leader on Cambridgeshire CC, who defeated his Labour opponent in the Wittering ward by 340 votes to 130.

Cllr Horrell is a Cambridgeshire representative on the Association of County Councils. He is Conservative spokesman on the ACC's local government personnel sub committee.
