Gloucestershire CC on a swing of 30%.

Conservative party chairman Michael Ancram said:

'Our win shows that the people of Gloucestershire want an opposition that puts forward common sense policies, like giving power back to schools and hospitals, and stands up for their interests.

'They do not want to vote for a party that just does whatever Tony Blair tells them to do.

The election last Thursday in Leckhampton with Up Hatherley saw

Robin MacDonald (Con) get 1,230 votes. The Lib Dems polled 297 votes and Labour 186.
