The Public Services Contracts Regulations 1993 came into force yesterday providing a legal redress in the national courts for any breech of the European Commission Services Directive.

The regulations were laid before parliament on 22 December. Although the Directive took effect from July 1993, there was until yesterday no remedy for aggrieved contractors if they felt public bodies had failed to comply.
