Leeds city councillor Fabian Hamilton was last night selected as Labour's prospective parliamentary candidate for Leeds North East, reports The Guardian (p4).

Mr Hamilton won by 165 to 141 votes in a run-off against Pam Tatlow. Her supporters said they would challenge the result, alleging postal vote irregularities.
