Following an election court victory by a candidate calling himself a Literal Democrat a new political group calling itself the Conversative Party will fight in next year's council elections, The Guardian reported (12 November, p8).

Alan Cornish, self-styled leader of the group, said it would target some 4,000 Tory marginal council seats in a bid to force the government to address the problem of ballot paper confusion, reported the paper.
