A Labour member of Corby BC has been sentenced to 40 hours community service after he was caught driving under the influence of amphetamines.

Dennis Taylor was stopped in his car by police last September and arrested after a hypodermic syringe was found. He was taken to a local police station, where his blood was found to contain 0.7 milligrammes of amphetamine per millilitre.

He appeared at Wellingborough magistrates court this week and pleaded guilty to possession of drugs and driving under the influence of drugs.

He was suspended by the Labour Party immediately after his arrest and is still under investigation by the party's national executive committee. No disciplinary action has yet been taken.
