Cornwall CC and Cornwall Enterprise Board were among 1,527 small investors who contributed £500,000 to the £1.5m raised to save the last remaining Cornish tin mine, the Daily Mail reported (6 Aug, p12).

Cornish miners paid tribute to the people of the county who saved South Crofty mine at Pool, near Redruth, by a share issue which surpassed its £1m target by its deadline of midnight last Thursday.
