The mother of a teenager murdered on a school trip to France three years ago, has brought a claim for negligence against the authority which organised the trip - Cornwall CC.

The Times (p7) reports that Sue Dickinson's daughter, Caroline, was 13 when she was sexually assaulted and murdered as she slept on the floor in a youth hostel in the Breton town of Pleine Fougeres in July 1996.

She was one of 39 pupils form Launceston Community College staying at the hostel during the trip. Sue Dickinson will be claiming in Plymouth High Court today that the authority failed in its duty of care to her daughter.
