Council and PCT plan partnership

  • Comment
A local council is planning to join forces with a primary care trust in a bid to make commissioning decisions more efficient.

Blackburn with Darwen PCT is consulting the public over plans to link up with Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council’s social services department and become a "care trust plus".

It said it hoped the step would make its commissioning decisions more efficient and improve its services.

PCT chief executive Judith Griffin said: “We have a long history of close partnership working between the NHS and council in Blackburn with Darwen.

“Now we want to go a step further by joining our health and social care commissioning teams together.

“These teams do a really important job because they are responsible for planning and buying NHS and social care services and it makes sense to do this work together, using existing legislation.”
