South-East Regional Investment is set to meet or exceed its targets for attracting money and jobs into the region, reported the Financial Times (November 7, p7).

The agency, which is backed by councils in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, east and west Sussex, Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Kent, Oxfordshire and Surrey, was set up last year with the aim of propelling south east England into the premier league of European economic regions, said the paper.

So far it has helped to attract 20 overseas companies which are expected to creat more than 1,300 jobs over the next three years.
