The Birmingham City Council was criticised at an inquest for failing to do anything about neighbourhood noise, reports the Birmingham Post (p4).

The sister of a man who died when he fell over 100ft from his Bromford flat, said the man had made repeated complaints to the council about noisy neighbours but no action was taken.

However, council environmental services officer Roger Tanswall said a monitoring exercise had found noise levels were insufficient to warrant immediate action.
