Thousands of council staff in Wales could vote with their feet today by refusing to use cars, buses and trains to carry out their duties, the Western Mail reports (p3).

The paper says that the council workers will start a boycott of buses, taxis and hired cars to carry out work duties from noon today, if fresh talks at national level fail to make progress.

Welsh councils are reported as staving off the worst effects of the dispute by hiring cars.
