Powys CC has announced financial support of£40,000 to bring
independent housing advice to Powys. The service, to be provided by Shelter
Cymru, the national housing campaigning organisation, will provide expert
housing advice to people in need in all parts of the county. Substantial
funding has also been provided by the Legal Services Commission.
Advice surgeries, run from well-used community venues, will offer help with
a full range of housing problems including homelessness, rent and mortgage
arrears and disrepair.
JJ Costello, Shelter Cymru?s regional advice manager, said: ?We are extremely
pleased to be involved in the delivery of this new service and look forward
to complimenting the advice currently offered by housing providers and other
agencies in the area.?
Ian Fraser, the council?s housing policy officer added: ?The council fully
appreciates the importance of providing good quality advice and is pleased
to work in partnership with Shelter Cymru and other agencies to improve
services to the people of Powys.?
