Whiskey, the Tibetan spaniel who was due to be seized by bailiffs over non-payment of £309 in council tax, has been reprieved after a member of the public paid the outstanding bill, The Daily Telegraph reports (p3).

Chelmsford BC threatened to take Whiskey, along with the family car and a wheelbarrow, to recover the sum. However, Allan and Janet Lambert appealed for help through a local newspaper.
