Gwynedd Council is to install closed circuit TV cameras on the streets of Caernarfon, to combat crime, the Daily Post reported (9 January, p13).

Councillor Mair Ellis said that the installation of CCTV, on a number of streets, 'will make a great difference to safety in Caernarfon as a place in which to live, work and to visit.

'It's proved very successful in other towns, particularly at Colwyn Bay and Holyhead'.
