West Oxfordshire district councillors look set to approve a plan which could mean the end of door-to-door rent collection, reports BBC Oxford.

A review of the fortnightly service looks imminent because of concerns about the security risks associated with door-to-door collection. It would also allow the council's housing assistants to spend more time collecting rent arrears.

Councillors are being asked today to approve the start of consultation with tenants.

Isle of Anglesey BC is also to end door to door rent collection, reports the Western Mail (p2) after a trial scheme under which rents have been paid by standing order at district housing offices or through the post was declared a success.
