The Welsh Office has rejected requests from six councils and the North Wales Police Authority to help fund the cost of being represented at a judicial inquiry into child abuse, The Western Mail reports (p5)

All six county councils in north Wales must be fully represented at the judicial inquiry set up by William Hague once it begins hearing evidence in January. The hearings are expected to last up to 12 months.
