Fylde and Wyre BCs have signed a shared services agreement for projects where they have common suppliers and goals.

A concordat setting out a framework within which the councils will work together to deliver further efficiencies has been agreed.

Fylde and Wyre have worked collaboratively in an award-winning initiative Recycling4Fylde&Wyre since 2005.

Areas being considered for joint working include procurement, asset management, coastal defence work, vehicle maintenance and leisure services.

Fylde chief executive Phil Woodward said: 'Now that we have proven the effectiveness of this approach and provided cost savings for both councils we have signed a concordat for developing other shared service partnerships.'

Wyre managing director Jim Corry said: 'We recognise the benefits of working in partnership to develop sustainable strategic solutions.'
