Council officials are looking at ways of saving the historic Forth Rail Bridge from declining maintenance, reports The Scotsman (p4).

Edinburgh City Council and Dunfermline DC are investigating the possibility of using planning laws designed to protect historic buildings, to force Railtrack to carry out more painting on the bridge.
