North Yorkshire CC has done a U-turn over plans for reorganisation in the county, reports the Yorkshire Post (p8).

After initially welcoming proposals for a new Greater York unitary authority and the maintenance of the existing two-tier system in the bulk of North Yorkshire, the council has decided to call on the environment secretary to drop the plans.
