Charles Kennedy, Liberal Democrat MP for Ross, Cromarty and Skye, has written an article explaining why he will be joining Skye and Lochalsh DC in boycotting the official opening today of the Skye Bridge.

In the Independent on Sunday (p8), he described the £5.20 toll per single crossing as 'an extra flat-rate Tory 'toll tax',' imposed without consulting local opinion.

The Sunday Telegraph (p7), claims that a confidential Meteorological Office report predicts that the bridge will be closed for the equivalent of three weeks each year because of high winds.
