A Conservative councillor with Cumbria CC and Eden DC denies obtaining a total of £1,235 by deception from the two authorities in travel expenses, The Journal reports (p2).

Newcastle Crown Court heard prosecution claims that Bryan Metz did not make journeys he was claiming for.

Prosecutor Frank Nance said Mr Metz maintained he was having a relationship with a woman in Ulverston and staying at her home up to six days a week. But Mr Nance told the jury the woman would give evidence to dispute that.
