A row between Darlington BC and Durham CC is heading for the high court in London.

Darlington is seeking a court ban to stop the county council from disposing of or dealing in any way with car parks at Barnard Street and Winston Street, Darlington.

It wants a ban to stay in force until it has received a planning application to develop the sites and until permission has been granted either by it or the environment secretary.

If the county sells these sites before these conditions are met, Darlington would seek damages for breach of a 1985 written agreement for sale by the borough council to the county council of land which includes the car parks.
