Mid Suffolk DC has announced that it is to take out legal proceedings against the owners of a private children's home after an investigation in to the death of a resident, the East Anglian Daily Times reports (p15).

The teenage resident died after a motorcycle accident in the grounds of the home near Stowmarket. The 250cc scrambling bike he was riding crashed into a tree.

Norman Foster, assistant director of environmental health, has led an inquiry since June, reports the paper. He said:

'We are going to take legal proceedings against the owners of the residential home, Parkside Care Ltd. Proceedings will be taken under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.'

He said the investigation has been extremely thorough and had included interviews with witnesses and consultation with experts.

The home was registered with Suffolk CC social services in January last year.
