Rother DC announces with great sadness the death on Wednesday 17 January 2001, of councillor Ivor Brampton whilst on holiday in Malta.
Cllr Brampton had a civic career spanning more than 30 years. He was first elected to local government in 1969 as a Bexhill Borough councillor and continued his local government service on Rother DC, Bexhill's successor authority.
During this time he was mayor of Bexhill (1977-78), chairman of Rother DC (1982-83) and an East Sussex County councillor for eight years. Additionally he served as a representative of the district and county councils, and in his own right, on numerous community agencies and local charities.
Cllr Brampton was appointed a deputy lieutenant for East Sussex in 1994 and at the time of his death he was leader of Rother DC.
