A cottage in Leicestershire at the centre of a four year long planning battle has had a demolition order imposed by Charnwood BC, reports BBC Leicester.

The row between the council and the building's owner, William Pickervant, revolves round planning permission for the cottage. The council claims Mr Pickervant has consistently ignored orders for the building to be destroyed. Earlier this year he lost a court case on the matter.

Planning committee member John Hawkes said it was time to take action because Mr Pickervant had 'blatantly disregarded all advice'.
