A Denbighshire CC employee has been suspended following a police investigation into allegations concerning contracts awarded by former Rhuddlan BCl, the Western Mail (18 Oct p10) reported.

The suspension of the unnamed man who worked for the contract services division follows the arrest of two unnamed men the previous day who were former employees of Rhuddlan BC and then the Denbighshire authority.

The Daily Post (Wales edn 17 Oct p3) reported that a police spokesman said that the men had been arrested following complaints from Denbighshire CC in relation to the manner in which contracts were awarded by the authority and the former borough council.

A district auditor's inquiry had revealed serious problems with the way the former borough council's tourism and leisure department had handled sub-contracts.
