A deputy headmistress accused of laundering money for a cocaine smuggling ring has been cleared after Customs officials dropped the charges, the Express reports (p28).

Patricia Taylor was arrested after accepting a£42,000 gift from her son Kieran Briggs who has been linked to a£25m cargo of cocaine.

She was suspended from her school and spent a night in a police cell after her home was raided in January.

A spokesman for Leeds City Council said Mrs Taylor was still suspended but added the council was undertaking further inquiries relating to the matter and expected to make a decision shortly.
